HOMEWORK ANNOUNCEMENT

Starting this week (August 26th), students will be responsible for independently reading from a book/s of their choice for at least 20 minutes each night during the school week. Ideally, I’d like them to read 20 minutes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. On short school weeks, the reading times will be adjusted. For example, if the students have Monday off, then they should read Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday that week. I understand family schedules can get crazy, so students can read extra minutes on less hectic nights and will also have the weekend to catch up on missed minutes. As long as they have their weekly required minutes, students have the freedom to read when their schedule allows it best. Although I don’t require students to track reading on a reading log, please feel free to use your own documentation method. Here is a reading log you can print, or if you’d like me to print one for your child, I’d be happy to do so; just let me know. Please understand the importance and benefits of just 20 minutes of independent reading a day and encourage your child to do his/her reading each week. I appreciate your support.
